Frameworks and tools

The design philosophy behind these frameworks draws from three traditions. In sports, mastery of the playbook leads paradoxically to transcendence of it. A quarterback studies the playbook until he can scrap the called play at the line and call an audible. In jazz, the lead sheet gives you the skeleton. What happens next belongs to the player. In game design, the meta is a living playbook shaped by the community exploring the edges of the game.

What all three share: the playbook creates shared language, mastery leads to transcendence, the right play depends on reading the moment and the best playbooks evolve. A static playbook is a signal that the game has stopped.

Every playbook in this system operates at one of three layers. The initiatory layer hands you the shared foundation. The role layer helps you make it yours. The living compendium is what you build over time through experimentation and contribution. These frameworks are concrete tools built from inside the practice. Each one will have its own page with the full rationale and usage guide as the OS builds out.
